Synopsis 

Reality TV just got real in this Cinderella story about a factory worker and a CEO’s son… 

Jennifer Wright is finishing a long shift on the assembly line at Brickman Foods when she meets her newest trainee, Jason Baxter — only that’s not his name and she knows it. She recognises him instantly as Jared Brickman, internationally renowned playboy and son of the CEO of Brickman Foods, working undercover to film the reality show, Joe Average. 

Jared is also the father of Jennifer’s son, Chris, although he doesn’t know it. The six years since they dated have been momentous for Jennifer, but it’s clear when they meet again that Jared doesn’t even remember her. Jennifer knew Jared the boy — irresponsible and reckless. Now she has the opportunity to discover Jared the man. She’d like to tell him about his son, but fears his reputation as depicted in celebrity magazines.

Is Jared an infamous heartbreaker, or is he the man she sees now: sweet, shy, and dependable — someone who can be trusted in her son’s life…and maybe even her own?

A cute modern fairy tale. 

What interested me the most, it is not really the love story aspect as much as the backdrop of reality in the setting in which the author has placed her story. 

First, I enjoyed the social climate of the company with the assembly-line work and the determination to do their best from the employees. For once, it's not some fancy story about some fancy job about a young executive! 
Indeed, the author shows the prejudices and class bias that come with the workers, single mothers and the financial benefits provided by the state . 
I liked this realistic look and the widow open by the author about real peoples life and real daily problems to struggle with. It's a change of scenery in the usual path of the romance. 

I also liked the case of harassment and how Nell Carson describes the behavior of the manager. It's creepy but, once again, very realistic.

Finally, what touched me the most was how a love dream from a young innocent girl was cruelly broken by the immaturity and pathetic joke from a bunch of drunkard guys. My heart was bleeding for the young Jenny. 

After this interesting reality is somewhat marred by the glitters. Playboy jerk side of the hero was also annoying especially if it's to get an happy ending...   

I found that the desire to create a fairy tale at all costs removed something that should have been deeper in the feelings and story to make it a lighter, cuter reading. It's a shame because there is really beautiful promises laying underneath the falseness of a reality tv show. 

A romance with beautiful moments and lovely characters.

Impressions
Un conte de fées moderne. 

Ce qui m'a intéressé ce n'est pas vraiment la love story sur fond de télé-réalité mais le décor dans lequel l'auteur a placé son histoire. 

En premier lieu, j'ai apprécié le climat sociale de l'entreprise avec la pénibilité du travail à la chaîne et la détermination à faire de son mieux des employés. Effectivement, l'auteur montre les préjugés qui vont avec les ouvriers, les mères célibataires notamment au niveaux des avantages donnés par l'état. 
J'ai mien aimé ce regard réaliste. 

J'ai aimé aussi le dossier de harcèlement et la manière dont Nell Carson décrit le comportement du manager. C'est glauque mais encore une fois très réaliste. 

Enfin ce qui m'a touché, c'est la manière cruelle dont les rêves amoureux d'une jeune fille innocente sont brisés par l'immaturité et l'envie de s'amuser d'une bande de mecs saouls, dont le cerveau a arrête de fonctionner. J'ai eu le coeur qui s'est serré pour la jeune Jenny.

Après cette réalité intéressante est un peu gâchée par le côté strass et paillettes. Le play-boy, habitué aux conquêtes sans lendemain et à la vie parmi la jet set du héros est aussi agaçant. 

J'ai trouvé que la volonté de créer un conte de fées à tout prix a enlevé un peu de profondeur aux sentiments et à l'histoire pour en faire une lecture plus légère. 
C'est dommage car il y a vraiment de belles choses et une écriture très engagée sous la télé-réalité. 

Une romance avec de beaux moments et de très jolies personnages.
