Synopsis
Come forth with an open mind, for an unconventional tale of love..

Dublin native Freda Wilson considers herself to be an acquired taste. She has a habit of making offensive jokes and speaking her mind too often. She doesn't have the best track record with first impressions, which is why she gets a surprise when her new neighbour Nicholas takes a shine to her. 

Nicholas is darkly handsome, funny and magnetic, and Freda feels like her black and white existence is plunged into a rainbow of colour when she's around him. When he walks into a room he lights it up, with his quick wit and charisma. He is a travelling cabaret performer, but Freda doesn't know exactly what that entails until the curtains pull back on his opening night. 

She is gob-smacked and entirely intrigued to see him take to the stage in drag. Later on, Nicholas asks her if she would like to become his show assistant. Excited by the idea, she jumps at the chance. Soon she finds herself immersed in a world of wigs, make-up and high heels, surrounded by pretty men and the temptation of falling for her incredibly beautiful employer.

In this story of passion and sexual discovery, Nicholas and Freda will contend with jealousy, emotional highs and lows, and the kind of love that only comes around once in a lifetime. 

Reactions 
From the first words that I had discovered from L.H Cosway in the serie "Tegan's Blood," I loved the style of the author and I've become a fan. 

In this story, no supernatural beings, no magic. She takes some risks by changing her usual genre. But I think it was a clever move because the story is truly amazing. 
With this contemporary and very original love story, she will be able to captivate more readers into her world. As for me, I was swept from feet by Dublin and by the wonderful characters...

First, it's a nice surprise that Freda is a real woman... And just for that, I was conquered. 
A woman with forms and not the usual anorexic with a french size 34, an american size 4 or a english size 6. In addition, this woman has some complex, some insecurities that make her quite charming. As we all have some by the way ... 
I found this reality actually very cool. 

Indeed, why do we always have to read stories where the heroines have a perfect flawless plastics or men have huge bank accounts and fly in private jets ? Sure it's a fiction but still!

I loved the scene when Freda admits that she does not know how to walk with heels and find that they are devices of torture. I was giggling while reading her thoughts because you must admit that sometimes is the truth ... The text made me smile and that's what I love about this author. 

In addition, Freda is offsetting by her friend Nora. Again, this is not because Nora is thin that she is necessarily happier ans nicer. 
I also liked that there are flaws in their friendship. The two best friends are able to say some crap to each other and still be there for one other when it count the most. There are some jealousies too but again, this is the reality of all friendships. 

Although, I must admit that the Anny's character has not been depicted advantageously. Sure, we all have a friend like her among our acquaintances.

As for Nicholas / Vivica, I fell in love with the drag queen at first sight  The more I read, the more I wanted to be her friend because she looked witty, somber, hot and fun. After her first performance on stage, I wish I could have flown towards Dublin to attend the Vivica Blue's show! 

I was touched by all the flaws and weaknesses of these exquisite characters together with the very just vision of our society pictured despite the fact that we are in a fiction. 

I also liked that the author points out the dangers of social networks where many intimate details are easily left accessible in a few clicks for all eye.

Personally, I find the gender change made ​​by the author to be a great success. This book has captivated my attention, has made me smile and made me laugh especially when Fred is having thoughts that I often have myself. Suddenly, it was as if L.H Cosway had touched a chord in me...And, that is the sign of a good writer. 

As for her love story, it's amazing, moving, touching without being incredible. 
A nice breath of fresh air!

Bientôt, elle se retrouve plongée dans un monde de perruques, de maquillage et talons hauts, entourée de jolies hommes avec la tentation de tomber amoureuse de son incroyablement bel employeur.

Dans cette histoire de passion et de découverte sexuelle, Nicholas et Freda vont devoir composer avec la jalousie, des hauts et des bas émotionnels, et le genre d'amour qui survient seulement une fois dans une vie. 

Impressions
Depuis les premiers mots que j'avais découvert dans la série "The Tegan's Blood", j'avais aimé le style de l'auteur. Dans cette histoire, pas question de surnaturel ou de magie. 
Un changement de genre qui peut s'avérer être risqué et bien...pas du tout! J'ai été captivée par cette histoire d'amour contemporaine et très originale. J'ai été soufflée par Dublin et par les surprenants personnages...

D'abord et c'est pour moi une belle surprise: Freda est une vraie femme! Et rien que pour cela, j'ai été conquise. 
Une femme avec des formes et pas les habituelles anorexiques de taille 34. De plus, cette femme a des complexes, des insécurités qui la rendent charmante. Comme nous toutes... 
J'ai trouvé cette réalité très fraîche.

En effet, pourquoi toujours devoir lire des histoires ou les héroïnes ont des plastiques irréprochables et les hommes des comptes en banque de milliardaire... Certes, nous lisons des fictions mais quand même! 

J'ai adoré le coup de ne pas savoir marcher avec des talons aiguilles et de trouver que ceux sont des engins de tortures parce qu'il faut avouer que c'est la vérité... ça m'a fait sourire et c'est ce que j'aime dans cet auteur.

De plus, Freda est contrebalancée par son amie Nora. Là encore, ce n'est pas parce que Nora est mince qu'elle est forcément plus heureuse. 

J'ai apprécié aussi qu'il y ait des failles dans leur amitié et qu'elles soient capables de s'envoyer des saloperies en l'air et qu'il y ait quelques jalousies car là encore, c'est la réalité de toute les amitiés. 

Mais je dois avouer qu'Anny n'a pas été dépeinte de manière avantageuse. Cependant, nous avons tous une copine comme elle parmi nos connaissances. 

Quant à Nicholas/Vivica, je suis tombée sous le charme de ce drag queen. Plus je lisais, plus j'avais envie de devenir son amie car il avait l'air fun. Après sa première performance sur scène, j'aurais souhaité prendre un vol direction Dublin pour assister au spectacle de Vivica Blue ! 

C'est amusant car avant de lire cette histoire, je ne me serais même pas interrogée sur les préférences sexuelles d'un drag queen, j'aurais immédiatement pensé : "Gay" ou "Bi". D'avoir pensé utiliser un héros masculin aussi improbable montre l'imagination et l'originalité de L.H Cosway.

J'ai été touchée par toutes les failles et faiblesses de ces exquis personnages ainsi que par une vision très juste de notre société malgré le fait que nous soyons dans une fiction. 

J'ai apprécié aussi que l'auteur pointe les dangers des réseaux sociaux et des nombreux détails intimes qui sont laissés aux yeux et aux clics de tous. 

Personnellement, je trouve le changement de genre réalisé par l'auteur être un grand succès. Elle a su captiver mon attention, me faire sourire et même me faire rire par des réflexions qu'il m'arrive souvent d'avoir moi même. 
Du coup, c'était comme si elle avait touché un corde sensible en moi ce qui est le signe d'un bon auteur. 

Quant à son histoire d'amour, elle est étonnante, émouvante, touchante sans être rocambolesque. Un belle bouffée d'air frais! 
Maintenant, il ne lui reste plus qu'à sortir un nouveau livre très vite...
