Synopsis
Seize the day... 

Zoë Underwood loved Matt Cantrell from the moment her mother married his father. She definitely thinks of him as more than a big brother and even though he moved away from home the moment their parents got married, her feelings for him have grown stronger, bigger. More. No one presses her buttons like the tall, dark and gorgeous Matt. If only he can get over the eight-year age difference. 

Now, Zoë is determined to snare her man. She wants one thing—Matt’s love. It’s time for her to make a move, stir things up a little and take a chance on love.

Reactions
Reading the story of a blended family where children, no related by blood, are attracted to each other, I was expecting seduction, guilt and some huge drama. 

I expect that Matt give into his attraction. Sure he succombed! But perhaps he might have wait a bit longer to do so. 
Indeed, the first night, he manages to be a gentleman and the next day he forgets all his good resolutions ... A little easy, right? 
Personally, I would have liked to see him suffer a little more internaly. If only because he is the oldest and the most sensitive to the fact that the woman he lust after has always been looking for trouble. 

I wanted a romantic story. I got one. However, the novel is too short to allow a real story to take place. Therefore, the whole action was taking place in the bedroom... Ok, but it may be lacking of some depth.

Necessarily with a sensitive topic, limit incestuous, I expected dramas before accepting (or not) their relationship. At least from their parent point of vue. Again, this part is too fast swept by a backhand. Certainly, there are consequences, but to my taste, the author has not developped the full potential of her plot. 

Emotionally, there is no confusion or guilt from the characters. Even the parent's acceptance is too fast. In short, the story lacks emotional suspense. 

All ingredients of this plot, however, are given to bring the story to its climax. 
Here, it is as if the mayonnaise was not mounted. The dish is good, a bit light, but it lacks interesting flavors of seasonings to make it unforgettable.

Zoë Underwood a aimé Matt Cantrell à partir du moment où sa mère a épousé son père. Elle pense définitivement à lui différemment d'un grand frère et, même s'il a déménagé loin de la maison au moment où leurs parents se sont mariés, ses sentiments pour lui sont devenus plus forts, plus grands. Mieux. Personne ne l'a fait réagir comme le grand, brun et beau Matt. Si seulement il pouvait passer outre leur différence d'âge de huit ans. 

Maintenant, Zoë est déterminée a prendre au piège son homme. Elle veut une seule chose: l'amour de Matt. Et il est temps, pour elle, de faire un pas dans cette direction et de remuer un peu les choses afin de tenter sa chance en amour.

Impressions 
En lisant l'intrigue sur une famille recomposée ou les enfants, sans lien de parenté entre eux, sont attirés l'un par l'autre, je m'attendais à de la séduction, de la culpabilité et des drames. J'en ai eu mais pas vraiment assez. 

Je m'attendais à ce que Matt craque. Il a craqué! Peut-être aurait-il pu attendre plus longtemps. En effet, le premier soir, il parvient à être un gentleman et le lendemain, il oublie toutes ses bonnes résolutions...
Un peu facile, non ? 

Personnellement, j'aurais aimé le voir souffrir de l'intérieur un peu plus. Ne serait-ce parce qu'il est le plus vieux et le plus sensible au fait que la jeune femme a toujours été une enfant terrible. 

Je souhaitais une histoire romantique. J'en ai eu une. Pourtant, l'ensemble de la nouvelle est trop courte pour permettre à une réelle histoire de prendre place. On a donc l'impression que tout se situe dans la chambre à coucher. Cela peut manquer de profondeur. 

Forcément avec un sujet sensible, limite incestueux, je m'attendais à des drames pour faire accepter aux autres leur relation ou du moins à leur parent. Là encore, cette partie est trop vite balayée d'un revers de la main. Certes, il y a des conséquences mais, à mon goût, l'auteur n'a pas été au bout du problème. 

Emotionnellement, il n'y a pas de confusion, de culpabilité. Même du côté des parents, l'acceptation est trop rapide. Bref, le récit manque de suspense émotionnel. 

Tous les ingrédients de cette intrigue sont pourtant donnés pour amener le récit à son point culminant. 
Là, c'est comme si le soufflé n'était pas monté. Le plat est bon, les saveurs intéressantes mais cela manque d'assaisonnements pour le rendre inoubliable.
