Magnificent! 

Do not be fooled by the synopsis that does not prepare the reader to the beauty of words, text and poignant story of the Adam's family wonderfully told by an amazing author. 

Frankly, by reading the summary my curiosity was not piqued. I could have easily miss this book. But when Angela contacted me to participate to this tour something caught my attention... Today, I am delighted to have opened this wonderful novel! 

From the first lines of the introduction, written by the author, I had a lump in my throat... Determined, Sally Mandel takes courageously up her pen after a brain injury. While insurmountable obstacles stood in her way, her resolution to succeed in writing again was the prime mover of my desire to devour this book. 
Such a passion for writing could only be reflected in the story and this is a beautiful example of courage given by the author. 

By following the last days of Lily Adams' life, I was immediately caught by the author's style and humor behind her character. The ending of a rich life, lived by a complex woman that we will discover through her relationship with her daughter, Stella, and her daughter Amy. Also through the men who have marked the lives of the ones she loves. The relationships of this three generations of women are very well told especially the sad or joyous events experienced through life and love. 

Far from being depressing, this story is full of hope and life! 

The reader follows the characters and the more they reveal of themselves, the more you want to listen to them, to know and support them. 

Sally Mandel gives also a great view about the loss of a loved one. The pain and suffering can be sometimes a devastating presence, if it is not put to rest, and if it is a source of guilt. But it can also become an incredible force, an inspiration to live if we choose to honor and celebrate its life. It's poignant! 

A very beautiful, poetic and realistic story about love and life. The ending made ​​me shed a tear as I was touched by this exquisitely narrative!

Magnifique! 

Ne vous fiez pas au synopsis qui ne traduit en rien la beauté des mots, du texte et de l'histoire poignante de cette famille racontée par un auteur incroyable. 

Franchement, en lisant ce résumé ma curiosité n'a pas été piquée. J'aurai pu facilement passer à côté. Mais lorsqu' Angela m'a contacté pour participer à ce tour quelque chose m'a attiré... 
Aujourd'hui, je suis ravie d'avoir ouvert ce magnifique roman! 

Dès les premières lignes de l'introduction écrite par l'auteur, j'ai eu la gorge nouée. 

La détermination de Sally Mandel a reprendre la plume après une lésion cérébrale, alors que des obstacles insurmontables se dressaient sur sa route, a été le premier moteur de mon envie à dévorer ce livre. Une telle passion pour l'écriture ne pouvait que transparaître dans le récit et c'est une très belle leçon de courage donnée par son auteur. 

En plongeant dans les derniers jours de la vie de Lily Adams, j'ai été immédiatement attrapée par le style de l'auteur et l'humour derrière son personnage. 
La fin d'une vie riche menée par une femme complexe que l'on va découvrir au travers de ses relations avec sa fille, Stella, et de son petite fille Amy. Mais aussi les hommes qui ont marqué leurs vies. 
Les relations de ses femmes, que trois générations séparent, et qui ont connu les travers de la vie et ceux de l'amour aussi. 

Loin d'être triste ou rébarbatif, c'est plein d'espoir et de vie! 

Le lecteur suit les personnages. Plus, ils se dévoilent, plus on a envie de les écouter, de les connaître et de les soutenir. 

L'auteur parle ensuite de la perte d'un être aimé. La peine et la souffrance d'une perte peut être une présence dévastatrice si elle n'est pas mise au repos et si elle est source de culpabilité. Comme elle peut devenir une force incroyable et une source d'inspiration si l'on choisit de l'honorer en célébrant la vie. 

Très beau, poétique et réaliste, c'est une très belle histoire d'amour et de vie. 
La fin m'a fait verser une larme tant j'ai été touchée par cette histoire délicieusement réelle.
