Synopsis 
When Jake, a shy fourth grader, starts a fire in the woods behind his school that gets away from him, he's punished and forgiven. But his life is never the same. Three years after the incident, the dreams begin. Dreams of flames and a strange creature Jake calls The Melting Man.

Reactions
To radically change from romances, what better than a horror book? As I'm pretty good audience for these kind of stories, I was expecting to have my head turned upside down, a beating heart and maybe even a little anxiety before going to sleep. 
Well instead, I had a tortured story that made me frown. 

While Jack is a strange little boy... But honestly, would not become strange with parents also so fuck up? His father keeps telling anyone who will listen that his son is a little disturbed ... However, he looks to me like he's having a lot of an off days himself! So speak about a model! As for his mother, vodka is her best friend so it's complicated ... 

In short, even if there is a bit of suspense and horror to follow impulses and stories surrounding Jack, I have shaken my head over the dysfonction of this family but not of fright. I admit that the ending has confused me. It was not very clear. 

Honestly, I was expecting something else ... I'm a little disappointed. Not with the book because others have loved it, I am disappointed by myself to not be able to enter in it...

Un être qui l'attend et l'observe avec un sourire sournois, il l'attire toujours plus profondément dans ses peurs les plus sombres, et tente de l'amener vers un autre monde de feu et de tourment. Et puis, Jake commence à voir The Melting Man partout où il va .

Lorsque ses rêves dérapent vers la vie réelle, Jake se rend compte qu'il a été entraîné vers une véritable apocalypse, et que les pouvoirs du Melting Man sont de plus en plus forts. Endormi, éveillé, ou pris au piège entre les deux, Jake doit se battre pour comprendre non seulement qui et ce qu'est The Melting Man et ce que représentent ses rêves. 
Comprendre également comment cette créature et les mystérieux liens familiaux hérités dans un film dérangeant, violent et énigmatique associée à son père, un scénariste paumé. 

Mais il peut y avoir aucun moyen d'arrêter ce qui a déjà commencé ... parce que c'est un nouveau cauchemar ... une nouvelle terreur ... une nouvelle chair ... 

Impressions
Pour changer radicalement des romances, quoi de mieux qu'un livre d'horreur ? En plus, je suis plutôt bon public pour les histoires tracassée et d'après le synopsis, je m'attendais à avoir la tête retournée, le coeur qui bat et peut-être même un peu d'angoisse avant de m'endormir. Et bien, j'ai eu un récit torturé qui m'a fait froncer les sourcils. 

Certes, Jack est un petit garçon étrange mais qui ne le serait pas devenu avec des parents aussi barrés ? Son père n'arrête pas de dire à qui veut l'entendre que son fils est un peu dérangé... Pourtant, il m'a l'air bien entamé lui aussi. Un super modèle! 
Quant à sa mère, la vodka est sa meilleure amie alors c'est compliquée... 

Bref, même s'il y a un peu de suspense et d'horreur à suivre les pulsions et histoires qui entourent Jack, j'ai plus secoué ma tête face aux dysfonctionnements de cette famille que d'effroi. J'avoue que la fin m'a rendu perplexe avec un dénouement qui ne m'a pas parut très claire. 

Honnêtement, je m'attendais à autre chose...Je suis donc un peu déçue. Pas du livre car d'autres ont aimé. Je suis déçue de ne pas être entrée dedans et être passée complément à côté...
