Synopsis

Reactions
Fan of Alice Clayton's series, I found this third installment lackluster. If I still love the humor, the sexy wicked repartees and naughty scenes between Grace and Jack, however, I found the descent into hell of the awesome Brit a bit disappointing.

If Grace hilarious freaking out, in the previous volume, were motivated by the fear of commitment, the young woman has never lacked humor. She kept her sassyness and her bite. There, I found Jack very immature when it was not a trait he had developed so far.

I was also disappointed with his ability to be easily influenced. As for his inability to face reality, arguments... His runaway attitude for resolving issues were very childish.
And then a hero who disappoints me while since the begining he was perfect in almost every line, it make me sigh outloud.
Jack's attitude of a jerk has also had implications on the behavior of the rest of the characters. By too much walking on eggshells, they lost their spirit, their spicyness and corosive way of dealing with life.

Sure, Jack's inaptitude to deal with pressure and exposure gives more seriousness to this story but I admit that I have less fun in my reading than in the two previous books.

I hope there will be a next corrosive and hilarious volume...

Grâce a décroché le rôle principal d'une nouvelle série télévisée, mais lorsque le directeur lui demande de perdre 7kg, elle révèle au public ses problèmes de poids et développe soudainement un énorme fan club qui soutient son droit à avoir des formes.

Mais entre ça et la fascination continue du public concernant les " "sont-ils" ou "ne sont-ils pas ensemble" par rapport avec sa relation avec Jack, Grace commence à se demander si quelqu'un est vraiment intéressé par elle et sa série télé à venir, ou si tout n'est que spéculation sur la taille de son cul et son partenaire de plumard.

Pendant ce temps, Jack est élu l'homme le plus sexy et devient un peu trop amoureux des soirées et des abus. Grâce promet de lui donner l'espace dont il a besoin pour se trouver, mais ensuite il commence une spirale infernale passant du British sympa au sale gosse d'Hollywood.

Les gens parlent, mais Jack et Grace le font-ils?
Sa carrière à le vent en poupe, et celle de Jack continue son ascension mais Grace sera -t-elle en mesure de le rattraper s'il tombe ? Seront-ils un jour capable aussi de n'être qu'un couple qui se tient la main quand ils marchent dans la rue...

Impressions
Fan d'Alice Clayton et de sa série, j'ai trouvé ce troisième volet en demi-teinte.
Si j'adore l'humour, les réparties grinçantes et les scènes coquines entre Grace et Jack pourtant, j'ai trouvé la descente aux enfers du beau British un peu décevante.

Si les pétages de plomb de Grace, dans le précédent volume, étaient motivés par la peur de s'engager, la jeune femme n'a jamais manqué d'humour. Elle a gardé son peps et son mordant.
Là, j'avoue avoir trouvé Jack très immature alors que ce n'était pas un trait de caractère qu'il avait développé jusqu'à présent.

J'ai aussi été déçue de sa facilité à être influencé et sa manière de ne pas affronter la réalité et de préférer fuir. Et un héros qui déçoit, alors qu'il était parfait sur presque toute la ligne, ça fait soupirer.
Son attitude a aussi eu des implications sur le reste des personnages.
A force de marcher sur des oeufs, ils ont perdu de leur entrain, de leur piquant. Certes, cela donne une histoire plus sérieuse mais aussi un récit dans lequel j'ai moins ri.

J'espère qu'il y aura un prochain volume corrosif et hilarant pour me faire retrouver le mordant du couple Grace/Jack!
