ENAMORED BY SHOSHANNA EVERS

ENSLAVED TRILOGY VOL 2

Synopsis
The second original eBook in the red-hot Enslaved trilogy begins with a dangerous bet that turns good friends into exquisite lovers.

Billionaire BAD Boy Marc Wilde has never met a woman who could fulfill his every need...until he takes his good friend and fellow dominant Mistress Lauren up on a dangerous bet—a bet where she ends up as his sex slave for a week.

Can a Dominatrix fall in love with a Dom? Only if she can find a way to submit to Marc’s every desire and be happy about it. Lauren has her doubts…but the flirtation, the friendship, and the sex might be too much for either to resist…

Reactions
After reading the adventures of Trevor and Elizabeth, and their love triangle with Roman before their engagement, I wanted to know the further adventures of the outrageous Bad Boys. If the first volume was quite daring with the sharing of a woman between two men...
There, the story unfold a relationship between two friends: Mark and Lauren.

Both are used to control situations and to be obeyed. Dynamics will change when everything turns upside down by a bet. Their friendship turns into a deeper discovery and of lust and desire. The desire to try new things with your loved one.

Honestly, I was a little disappointed by the outcome. Much softer than the first volume, I found it less fun that it might have been. I expected a battle of will, a little addition of spices to intensify the bet. While in fact, Lauren quickly adapted in her new role, without really putting a fight.
Marc is also a rather romantic Dom.

Roman remains the most intriguing character. His trip to Japan is pretty intense... And I can't wait to know Jessica better!

The novel is nice, the writing skills of the author always nice but it lacks a little something that left me a bit hungry for more.
I hope Roman's adventures will be boiling hot ...

ENAMORED BY SHOSHANNA EVERS
ENSLAVED TRILOGY VOL 2

DIRTY LITTLE SECRET BY JENNIFER ECHOLS

Synopsis
Bailey wasn’t always a wild child and the black sheep of her family. She used to play fiddle and tour the music circuit with her sister, Julie, who sang and played guitar. That ended when country music execs swooped in and signed Julie to a solo deal. Never mind that Julie and Bailey were a duet, or that Bailey was their songwriter. The music scouts wanted only Julie, and their parents were content to sit by and let her fulfill her dreams while Bailey’s were hushed away.

Bailey has tried to numb the pain and disappointment over what could have been. And as Julie’s debut album is set to hit the charts, her parents get fed up with Bailey’s antics and ship her off to granddad’s house in Nashville.

Playing fiddle in washed-up tribute groups at the mall, Bailey meets Sam, a handsome and oh-so-persuasive guitarist with his own band. He knows Bailey’s fiddle playing is just the thing his band needs to break into the industry. But this life has broken Bailey’s heart once before. She isn’t sure she’s ready to let Sam take her there again…

Reactions
Culturally, country is not a music that is part of my european education . So suddenly, I amused myself by researching the various songs performed and mentioned by Jennifer Echols on Youtube. This allowed me to hear some classic American songs and helped me improve my musical knowledge.

After the plot is revealed, I've just gotten round in circles, alterning hot and cold reactions, due to the special relationship between the two heroes. A little tiresome to follow...

Also Bailey's and Julie's parent reactions takes me aback. How can you ask one of your daughters to lay low and stop living to let the other one shine? I know that sometimes parents make strange choices but...For real?! I have been exceeded by their nonsenses.

Just as Sam's reactions and thoughts makes me perplexed. While he is beautiful, talented and tortured, his way of seeing life and success have made me shudder. Using and manipulating everyone to get what he wants ... A strange choice of hero, don't you think? Even though, there is a happy ending, I would say do not rely on his old school attitude, he's just a pushy liar and heartless, boor.

Nevertheless, my reading has been fast. I found lengths and the ending too easy but it may be suitable for a teen reading. I confess, however, not to have fallen under the spell of the characters except maybe for Ace.

However, this has given me want to listen to music, visit Nashville and go a gig. Then, I must admit that the dedication and persistence of these young people to succeed in the music industry is commendable. They give themselves completely to succeed.

Make your own decision on this book...

Sentences

From Sam: "If you inherit that addictive personality, that problem with obsession, you're going to have harder time kicking than you average Joe."

From Sam: "As long as you have faith in yourself, you still have someone's support."

From Sam: "You bond with that person, and that person breaks your heart. I'm that tragedy for you and you're mine."

DIRTY LITTLE SECRET
BY JENNIFER ECHOLS

A MOMENT BY MARIE HALL

MOMENTS SERIES BOOK 1

Synopsis
Ryan Cosgrove and Liliana Delgado are on a collision course with destiny. They don't know it yet, but before the night is over their lives will be forever changed.

Spending Valentine's Day at a burlesque bar, hadn't been Liliana's ideal way of spending a Friday night. She'd much rather be back at campus, doing homework... until she meets Ryan. Tall, athletic, and gorgeous, Lili can't keep her eyes off him, and despite his gruff manners and drunken disposition she's intrigued.

Ryan's got demons, and they're deep, dark, and eating him alive. Regardless of his attraction to the petite brunette he's tired of fighting, of pretending the last fifteen years haven't been a daily struggle just to get out of bed every morning. That night he decides to end his pain, to leave it all behind and float away into the blessed darkness of oblivion. But fate has other plans for him, Lily finds and rescues Ryan, determined she'll not only save his body, but his soul too.

This is their moment...

Reactions
In an instant, everything changed. Fatality or destiny are playing good or bad pranks to get you on the path laid out for you.
Believe it or not but how many times have your hear strangers say: "it had to happen", "it was written" ...
Fate ? Or coincidences ?
Here the author focuses on the intersecting roads. Moments that make the difference.

The characters have difficult, traumatic lives and are trying to fight with the cards dealt always advancing to become a better person. Of course, sometimes the demons and agonizing fears resurface and take over. But there is always someone out there for you.
Certainly, having been burned by the harshness of life, it leads people to be more suspicious, more cautious but the only thing that one can not control, it is love.

This romance is far from a fairy tale, and yet it is full of real emotions.

I liked that the characters are dented by life. This gives depth and relief to this reading, may be a bit heavy on the sad emotions but it's a beautiful love story.
Despite strong and poignant subjects, pity has no place in this story. And it's a good thing!

I also liked that the author speaks openly about autism, suicide, illness without falling into excessive pathos but just to make the picture real and plausible. Life is not always a fairy tale. Princes and princesses sometimes come with emotional baggages but that does not stop them to try to be happy.

Only drawback, I read an ARC and sometimes I was disturbed by first name's confusion in the dialogue. But it did not spoil my reading.
A good one!

Sentences

From Ryan: "You really are an angel, aren't you? Sent from above to rescue the hero in distress."

From Ryan: "I don't care that you don't talk. I think I like you anyway. Sometimes I think we speak louder without words."

A MOMENT BY MARIE HALL
MOMENTS SERIES BOOK 1

A découvrir.

GIVING AN INCH BY HEIDI BELLEAU AND AMELIA C. GORMLEY

THE PROFESSOR'S RULE
VOL 1

Synopsis
School is back in session.

History grad James Sheridan thinks his biggest problem in life is trying to find a suitable outfit for his upcoming Ph.D. candidacy exam. That is, until he accidentally texts a changing-room selfie meant for his fashionable sister to his ex, the domineering Professor Carson.

James and Carson haven’t seen each since James fled their power games two years ago. Back in his undergrad days, Carson was his Professor, and not just in the academic sense: a man of unusual tastes and extreme sexual demands, James had been happy to sate Carson’s savage appetites. Too happy, in fact. He never could trust himself not to let Carson push too far.

Now James is older and wiser, and sharing some seriously flirtatious vibes with a cute menswear rep. When Carson replies to James’s errant text, ready to pick up where they left off, James can’t help being drawn back into Carson’s control. It’s only when Carson suggests involving the salesman that James has to ask himself how far is too far, and whether he’s willing to go there with Carson again.

Reactions
My first gay romance was rather a nice discovery. A short novel that flirt with a rather dark BDSM relationship.

As for the story, James must get a suit to impress on his Ph D exam day. A bit stressed, not having the habit of dressing other than a in casual manner, he text his sister to get her opinion on the costume he chooses. But his text arrives at his ex. A man quite overbearing with whom he had a passionate and memorable relationship few years ago.

While battle not to fall into his previous faults and accept all, from the man who was once his master, James is also attracted by the charming rep who helps him pick his suit. A seduction game spiced up by the orders given by his ex.

At the end of a hot scene in the fitting room, that cost him his new garde de robe, James left with many promises. Those proposed tenderly as well as those exciting and disturbing that need to be clarified.

Very short, light and pleasant to read. The plot and eroticism are pretty well done. To have the clearer idea, I guess I will have to wait for the sequel...

GIVING AN INCH
BY HEIDI BELLEAU AND AMELIA C. GORMLEY
THE PROFESSOR'S RULE VOL 1

WALKING DISASTER BY JAMIE MCGUIRE

BEAUTIFUL VOL 2

Synopsis
Finally, the highly anticipated follow-up to the New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster. Can you love someone too much?
Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.

In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. But just when he thinks he is invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’s eyes.

Reactions
I loved Abby and Travis in "Beautiful Disaster".
The story was intense, puzzling, and sometimes a little violent but wonderfully hard to forget.
It is true that I fell in love with Travis ? Hell yes! who can resist a tattooed bad boy...

In announcing a sequel, written from his point of view was out, I was super excited. Imagine, the tons of questions that assailed me while reading the first volume will find some answers: Yippee!
I will be able to understand Travis's slutty strange reactions.
I also admit that the idea of having the same story told by two different views whetted my curiosity. So I had high expectations for "Walking Disaster".

First, I must say that the prologue and epilogue are incredible. Just for them, the book was good!
At the begining, unknown details about Travis childhood are revealed. Its prompts the reader to turn the pages. Then, the longing to plunge again into this love story was enough to plaster a huge smile on my face.  But then, I was a little disappointed...

Through Abby's point of view, the story had more depth and intensity. Perhaps it was only due to the novelty... But Travis had seemed to be a charming, arrogant asshole, unpredictable and impulsive which nobody could not resist.
There, the young man is full of insecurities and is whining a lot. Attention, it remains Travis Maddox but a much more fragile one.

I expected to know what prompted him to make a threesome and mess up everything with Abby, while she was staying at his appartment, and was disappointed to learn that he had a hangover...
No memories of his evening... What?
The scene that broke my heart and the guy was too drunk to remember his shit??? Grrrr!

This is the moment I realized that I wanted to understand and analyze Travis's reactions through a girl's perception. I wanted a more cerebral explanation while the author had touched rightly by presenting a charcater immature and impulsive.
In short, normal reactions and behaviours of a boy his age.

Where I truly remained hooked is the epilogue. Here was what I wanted to know from the start! I wanted to know what happened after the happily ever after, the unknown future.
Jamie McGuire is very brillant.
Now, I dream whether she will continue her story by telling us what has happened during the eleven years or rather what will occur after Abby's decision about her father?

There is a huge potential for a thriller, or other darker stories with these two characters. Hope there will be a volume 3!

Anyway, I loved my reading, despite the small disappointment because they were coming from my expectations and not necesserely from the novel. Thanks to Jamie McGuire, I've spend a good time with her characters!

Sentences

From Travis: "I hated it when he was like this. Unicorns and butterflies flying out of his ass and hearts floating in the air."
From Travis: "The day you appeared on our family tree, I wanted to cut it down."
From Shepley: "Your cooking is why I decided to ignore the fact that you're fucking nuts and move in with you."

From Travis: "How much I needed her terrified me. I couldn't imagine love was like this for everyone, or men would all be walking around like lunatics the second they were old enough to notice girls."
From Travis: "I didn't know what alone was until the first night I spent without you in my bed."

From Travis: "If you don't back away from my girl, I'll rip out your fucking throat. Right here on the dance floor."

WALKING DISASTER BY JAMIE MCGUIRE
BEAUTIFUL VOL 2
