Synopsis
All Joss wants is to be left alone—with Dylan. But as more Talents are imprisoned by the government, everyone’s looking for a leader. Some look to Joss, some to Marco whose new criminal plan threatens Joss’s family and friends.
Joss wants to stand up to Marco, but Dylan’s protective instincts are putting him in harm’s way. Can Joss find a way to embrace both the boy and her hero within?
More and more Talents continue to disappear and those who remain want to unite. Either in Joss's camp, as they want her for leader, either with Marco who continuing its traffic in hopes of impressing the Mafia.
As for Joss, she just wants to enjoy being with Dylan. But her sense of justice will not allow her to condone Marco's vile actions. While interfering into Marco's business can lead to her death or the one of those she loves ...
Reactions:
I found "Hush Money" exciting but a bit short. "Heroes 'Til Curfew" is incredibly intense, stressful and the perfect right length to let the reader enjoy the company of all the characters. Moreover, in this volume, the reader has no time to be bored or to catch his breath before he is taken on a new adventure. So, I really want a third installment to find out what will happen ...
A thrilling and engaging serie !
The writing and story proposed by the author is much more darker and dangerous than the previously one imagined in an already blackish "Hush Money."
The novel starts yet gently focusing on the progress taking place in the relationship between Dylan and Joss.
Gradually, you can feel the sexual tension moving between the two protagonists, but there is also, in parallel, a new strength built in their relationship.
Joss opens herself more and learns to trust the young man. They share their past, their family history and Dylan manages to succeed without feeling like the emasculated boy who is dating superwoman.
They accept themselves like they are and it is a beautiful lesson in love.
I was very touched and surprised by the darkness of the atrocities portrays by the author in a book for teenagers or young adults. Affected in a good way. I almost stopped reading beacause I was screaming inside my head "No, no, it can not happen!" .

Both her stories are amazingly pleasant and disturbing at the same time. If I was excited by "Hush Money", I was swift off my feet by "Heroes' Til Curfew". I really liked the whole series.
Pending the further adventures of Joss and Dylan, I'll throw myself on "Impulse Control.". "Talent Chronicles," a wonderful series ...

From Dylan: « Please don't refer to me and say 'poof'. It messes with my ultra-masculine identity and ego and shit. »
From Dylan: « These freckles make me crazy. »
From Dylan: « When had I gone from attraction, interest, and concern, head over heels into this obsession that made me act like an idiot? »
From Joss: « Jesus, does he ever get tired of making an ass of himself? »
From Joss: « I'd thought I wanted the shoulders, the eyes, the smile, someone nice, someone for whom everything seemed so easy. And then I found out who Dylan really was, and it was so much more than that. »
From Dylan: « I hated when Joss cried. I hated the way it made me feel, the helplessness, the way it took me by the throat and clawed at my gut. I felt like shit because she was hurting so bad and there was absolutely nothing I could do to fix it. »
From Dylan: « And you know I'll pick up trash or whatever you want me to do. Damn you and your feminine power. »

Tout ce que veut Joss, c'est d'être laissé seule - avec Dylan. Mais comme de plus en plus de Talents sont emprisonnés par le gouvernement, tout le monde est à la recherche d'un leader.
Certains se tournent vers Joss, d'autres vers Marco, dont les nouveaux plans illégaux menacent la famille et les amis de Joss. Joss veut tenir tête à Marco mais les instincts protecteurs de Dylan vont le mettre en danger. Joss peut-elle trouver un moyen d'embrasser à la fois le garçon et l'héroïne en elle?
De plus en plus de Talents continuent de disparaître et ceux qui restent veulent s'unir. Soit dans le camp de Joss, qu'ils veulent comme leader, soit avec Marco qui continuent ses trafics dans l'espoir d'impressionner la mafia. Joss, elle, veut juste profiter d'être avec Dylan.
Mais son sens de la justice ne va pas lui permettre de fermer les yeux sur les agissements de Marco. Même si interférer peut mener à sa mort ou celle de ceux qu'elle aime...
Impressions:
J'avais trouvé « Hush Money » captivant mais un peu court. « Heroes 'Til Curfew » est parfait. Incroyablement intense, stressant et pile poil de la bonne longueur pour laisser le lecteur apprécier la compagnie de tous les personnages.
De plus, dans ce tome, le lecteur n'a pas le temps de s'ennuyer ou de reprendre son souffle que déjà il est repris dans une nouvelle aventure. Du coup, on veut vraiment un troisième opus pour savoir ce qu'il va se passer...
Un roman palpitant et prenant!
Le roman démarre pourtant gentillement en se concentrant sur les progrès ayant eu lieu dans la relation entre Dylan et Joss. Petit à petit, on sent la tension sexuelle s'installer entre les deux protagonistes mais on assiste aussi, en parallèle, au renforcement de leur relation.
Joss s'ouvre davantage et apprend à faire confiance au jeune homme. Ils partagent leur passé, leur histoire familiale et Dylan parvient à franchir le cap du garçon émasculé qui sort avec superwoman. Ils s'acceptent et c'est une belle leçon d'amour.
Puis, on se penche sur la dynamique de groupe avec les différents Talents qui s'organisent en bande comme les X-Men: les bons contre les méchants. Mais avec des pouvoirs plus affutés et vraiment utiliser pour faire le mal du côté des Talents de Marco. On découvre de nouveaux personnages avec de nouvelles habilités et on ne peut s'empêcher de frémir dans les scènes de patrouilles ou Joss, Dylan et les autres se retrouvent pris au piège.
Des scènes assez difficiles que l'on ne s'attend pas à trouver dans des histoires supernaturelles non plus.
Touchée dans le bon sens du terme. J'ai presque arrêté ma lecture en criant « Non, non, ça ne peut pas arriver! » avec la boule au ventre, pris aux tripes par l'intensité de la scène décrite dans le magasin du père de Joss.
Mais c'est également le fait de physiquement réagir lors de ma lecture qui m'a intéressé. J'ai vécu les événements comme si j'étais à la place des personnages et ça, c'est le signe, pour moi, d'une très belle plume de la part de l'auteur.
Si « Hush Money » m'a emballé, « Heroes 'Til Curfew » m'a vraiment séduit. En attendant la suite des aventures de Joss et Dylan, je vais me jeter sur « Impulse Control. ». « Talent Chronicles », une très belle série...
