I don’t understand why his dark side appeals to me, but the attraction between us is rich with velvety promises of satisfaction. Chris is dark, and so are his desires, but I cannot turn away. More About IF I WERE YOU

How it began….

One day I was a high school teacher on summer break, leading a relatively uneventful but happy life. Or so I told myself. Later, I’d question that, as I would question pretty much everything I knew about me, my relationships, and my desires. It all began when my neighbor thrust a key to a storage unit at me. She’d bought it to make extra money after watching some storage auction show. Now she was on her way to the airport to elope with a man she barely knew, and she needed me to clear out the unit before the lease expires.

Soon, I was standing inside a small room that held the intimate details of another woman’s life, feeling uncomfortable , as if I was invading her privacy. Why had she let these items so neatly packed, possessions that she clearly cared about deeply, be lost at an auction?
Driven to find out by some unnamed force, I began to dig, to discover this woman’s life, and yes, read her journals—-dark, erotic journals that I had no business reading. Once I started, I couldn’t stop.

I read on obsessively, living out fantasies through her words that I’d never dare experience on my own, compelled by the three men in her life, none of whom had names. I read onward until the last terrifying dark entry left me certain that something had happened to this woman. I had to find her and be sure she was okay. Before long, I was taking her job for the summer at the art gallery, living her life, and she was nowhere to be found. I was becoming someone I didn’t know.
I was becoming her… The dark, passion it becomes…

Now, I am working at a prestigious gallery, where I have always dreamed of being, and I’ve been delivered to the doorstep of several men, all of which I envision as one I’ve read about in the journal. But there is one man that will call to me, that will awaken me in ways I never believed possible.

That man is the ruggedly sexy artist, Chris Merit, who wants to paint me. He is rich and famous, and dark in ways I shouldn’t find intriguing, but I do. I so do. I don’t understand why his dark side appeals to me, but the attraction between us is rich with velvety promises of satisfaction. Chris is dark, and so are his desires, but I cannot turn away.

He is damaged beneath his confident good looks and need for control, and in some way, I feel he needs me. I need him. All I know for certain is that he knows me like I don’t even know me, and he says I know him. Still, I keep asking myself — do I know him?
Did he know her, the journal writer, and where is she? And why doesn’t it seem to matter anymore?
There is just him and me, and the burn for more.

Summary:
Sara is a teacher who has always dreamed of working in the art circles. With incredible circumstances, during the summer break, she got hold of a strange diary and began to search for the author because she believes that something bad had happened. In her quest, she finds herself hired at a gallery, in vogue, for an authoritarian boss and falls under the spell of a dark and troubled artist. Her curiosity will lead her out of her comfort zone. She will meet dangerously captivating men who are potentially involved in the disappearance of the author of the erotic journal. Will she be ready to discover the truth?

Reactions:
Conducted as a criminal investigation, this novel is made to be devoured.

If the main plot is the thread for the reader, Sara's restlessness and instinct are going wilde after reading some passages from Rebecca's diary.

This journal is surprising as well as hypnotizing. Soon indices are sown to awaken the reader's curiosity and make him question the tracks followed by the heroin.
Full of charm and eroticism, the pages turn for steamy scenes, intense but also to better understand the complexity of the situation.

Sara, an English teacher, falls on the diaries of a complete stranger: Rebecca. Convinced that something happened to her after reading it, she takes her place and try to live in her footsteps. An idea rather tricky but moreover that works. Sara quickly meets all the protagonists who have gravitated in Rebecca's life. I did not have prevented me from thinking that her life as a teacher was so bored that she wanted a little action. So she jumped at the first opportunity!

Sara is a female character who really appealed to me. She has character, repartee, humor and imperfections. Obviously, for the sake of fiction, all the hot guys falling at her feet which is pretty annoying ... Laughter!

In addition, during the reading, Sara reveals memories that arouse interest and the reader can not stop asking itself questions to learn a little more of her past.

The other characters too are hiding a troubled past and all important informations for the plot. The assistant, the manager of the coffee shop through the boss of the gallery or the man in the warehouse and especially Chris and Sara, one can not help wanting to find out more. Because even our heroine is not as smooth, sweet and innocent as the first lines are willing to suggest.

Lisa Renee Jones plays dress with the reader by revealing just enough to wake up his appetite and his thirst for indiscretions. This is subtly well brought and very well written.

The extracts from the diary, some very intimate, are a delight. Intense, violent and carnal, the passages read by Sara provide a window into a troubling, intriguing and captivating world. As for her relationship with Chris, it passes from one extreme to another.

We go from hot to cold in the blink of an eye and the threats and warnings of the artist stir our curiosity as much as the power of attraction between the characters.
The story puts the reader in the role of a voyeur, a spy or of a curious anxious to know at what sauce it will be eaten.
The ending gives you gooseflesh. You have only one idea: get your hands on more ...

Amazingly well done! I loved it!

Traduction du synopsis:
Quand "Fifty Shades of Grey" rencontre "Basic Instinct"

Book 2: Being Me
Book 3: Revealing Us
Plus d'infos sur "If I Were You"
