THE ASSASSIN’S CURSE BY CASSANDRA ROSE CLARKE

Synopsis:
Ananna of the Tanarau abandons ship when her parents try to marry her off to an allying pirate clan: she wants to captain her own boat, not serve as second-in-command to her handsome yet clueless fiance. But her escape has dire consequences when she learns the scorned clan has sent an assassin after her.

And when the assassin, Naji, finally catches up with her, things get even worse. Ananna inadvertently triggers a nasty curse — with a life-altering result. Now Ananna and Naji are forced to become uneasy allies as they work together to break the curse and return their lives back to normal.
Or at least as normal as the lives of a pirate and an assassin can be.

Summary:
Ananna is the daughter of pirates who will have to accept an arranged marriage. A deal concluded by her parents and a wealthy clan. Except that the girl has different dreams for her future. So she decides to fly away. This was without counting on the assassin that would be sent in her pursuit...

Reactions:
The first reason why I decided to read this book was the cover. Its Aladdin’s side made me dream, so I decided to grab it. Then, the synopsis definitely convinced me! The author did not offer me a fairy tale but a thrilling and captivating story…

Original! That's the word that has come at the end of my reading. This story takes you in the wilderness, at sea as well as in the forest or in the disreputable streets of the East.
Scenery guaranteed with chills and witchcraft as bonus.
Lovers of pirates, magic and the supernatural, this novel will hook you.

During my reading, I had many flashes that crossed my mind. First, scenes worthy of inclusion in "Pirates of the Caribbean." Some muscular and deadly fighting straight out of "Assassin's Creed" and then, a hint of anxiety constructed like in "Lost." So much for the decor and atmosphere!

About the characters, the strong temper of Ananna seduced me. I confess that as the heroin, I've been wanting to shake Naji out of his shell. I wish he had more verbally expressed his feelings but I found him perfect in his role of the mysterious magician. He intrigued me and I look forward to learning more about him.

I also appreciated how the relationship with the main characters evolves. They stared stonily at each other. They are waiting before speaking for fear of revealing too much of their secrets despite the fact that they are bound by a curse.
Very entertaining!

Perfect to unwind after work by traveling with your imagination!

Sentences:

From Ananna: “Hell and sea salt! Naji, you promised me that you’d start telling me things.”

THE ASSASSIN’S CURSE
BY CASSANDRA ROSE CLARKE
