Synopsis

Darcy Welham’s dad is ready to sell his five-star restaurants and retire, but she’s determined to prove she can be trusted to keep the family business going. She had not reckoned on the arrival of the haughty but sublime Michael Davidson, who is responsible for concluding the deal and who makes Darcy's heart beat faster at every glance ...
When I read a review saying that this book was hilarious and the reader had fallen from his couch from all the laugher...
Inevitably, it intrigued and inspired me.
Moreover, the story was promising: a young woman who becomes clumsy and a real walking disaster every times she becomes nervous. And her nerves were instantly in plot whenever the handsome and dark hero were near her. All these elements were perfect to let me hope for some good time.
But then, the bar was set very high by this first review and to be honest, I was really disappointed for not having more fun.
I also had trouble with Darcy. If her goofy side is charming, her willingness to lose her innocence with the first man who show her interest, much less. After making her mind, her first night is followed by a text explanation, worthy of a biology class, which breaks the romantic mood and starry-eyed atmosphere that Trish Jensen gave to her novel.
In short, no hilarity for me but I was perhaps in a bad mood.
By cons, this is a nice easy to read novel which is perfect to bring for the beach this summer...

Combats autour de la nourriture, mariage d'amour ou les deux ? Elle est une adorable maladroite qui essaie de sauver la chaîne de restaurant de sa famille. Lui, un être pompeux et arrogant enclin à l'acheter. Qui va trébucher et tomber amoureux en premier ?
Le père de Darcy Welham est prêt à vendre ses restaurants cinq étoiles et à prendre sa retraite, mais Darcy, elle, est déterminée à prouver qu'on peut lui faire confiance pour garder l'entreprise familiale. Darcy est certaine: c'est ce que sa mère aurait voulu. Un seul problème: sa vie se transforme en un spectacle de gags quand elle est nerveuse.
Des chutes, des déversements, des glissades et des incendies - toutes ces mésaventures en une seule journée pour Darcy. Elle ne peut même pas débarrasser les tables sans renverser de la nourriture sur les genoux des clients.
Elle est maladroite parce qu'elle a une faible estime de soi.
Elle peut être une catastrophe en tant que serveuse, mais elle est un génie en tant que cuisinier, avec un talent pour créer de nouveaux plats appétissants. Darcy commence à réaliser que Michael n'est pas un pompeux arrogant - il est aussi patient, fort et courageux, tout ce qu'un homme qui veut sortir avec Darcy doit être, parce qu'elle se transforme en une zone dangereuse à chaque fois il lui fait battre le cœur.
Darcy travaille comme serveuse dans la chaine de restaurant 5 étoiles construite par sa famille. Elle veut prouver que, malgré ses maladresses, elle est capable de reprendre les rênes de l'entreprise familiale et que vendre les restaurants n'est pas nécessaire.
C'était sans compter sur l'arrivée de l'arrogant mais sublime Michael Davidson qui est chargé de conclure le deal et qui fait battre le cœur de Darcy d'un simple regard...
Impressions:
Lorsque j'ai lu une critique disant que ce livre était hilarant et que le lecteur était tombé de son canapé tellement, il avait ri... Forcément, ça m'a donné envie.
De plus, l'histoire était prometteuse: une jeune femme maladroite et gaffeuse qui devient un vrai danger public lorsqu'elle devient nerveuse à l'approche du héros ténébreux. Tous les éléments devaient être réunis pour me faire passer un bon moment.
Seulement voilà, la barre avait été placée très en hauteur par cette critique et j'ai été déçue de ne pas m'être plus amusée.
J'ai eu également des difficultés avec Darcy.
Si son côté maladroit est charmant, sa volonté à perdre son innocente avec le premier venu qui lui porte de l'intérêt, beaucoup moins.
S'en est suivi une explication de texte, digne d'une classe de biologie, qui casse l'ambiance romantique et fleur bleue que Trish Jensen a essayé de donner à sa nouvelle.
Bref, pas d'hilarité pour moi mais j'étais peut-être dans un mauvais jours.
Par contre, c'est une nouvelle facile à lire et légère qui sera parfaite pour la plage cet été.
